I only have 8 days left in paradise. Excuse me while I wipe my tears off my keyboard. I am so terribly sad to be leaving Thailand. It feels like it's gone by so fast, yet so slow at the same time. Honestly, I don't know if I am ready to go back to America. It's been so relaxing to just put real life on hold and just focus on myself you know? It's really been the best.
So this blog post is going to be a little different. I am just going to name all of the things I am going to miss about Thailand, because I am getting super emotional about having to leave my new home.
1. The coffee
Hands down the best coffee on the planet is a tie between Bali and Thailand. It's made with sweetened condensed milk and espresso shots and it's amazing. It's really strong, not too sweet, and it's to die for. Also the fact that it's under $0.50 really helps.
2. Night Markets
Night markets are the best thing that this world has to offer. Having hundreds of people selling you items for very cheap prices and you get to haggle down on prices? COUNT ME IN. I have no idea how I am going to go back to America and pay more than $3.00 for a shirt...UGH. I love the vibe at night markets. Buying street food, and strolling up and down these night bazaars has been one of my favorite activities. Way better than American malls.
3. The heat
Seriously it was 90 degrees the other day and I was so cold I had to put on a jacket. How am I going to go home to 60 degree weather. Hey UTAH WARM THE HECK UP. I have loved the heat. Even when I am covered in sweat, I am the happiest I've ever been.
I've loved just traveling. Learning how to use public transportation in a country that doesn't speak English has been challenging but character building right? Seeing new places, and gaining new experiences has been the highlight of my trip. I just love traveling and doing it for 4 months has been a dream.
I will miss having all of the time in the world for myself. When I want to write, I write. When I want to swim, I swim. When I want to research, I research. All of my days are filled with things that I want to do and most of my time is just that, "my time". It's been a significant change from taking 18 credits, working full time, being sorority president, and being in the LEAD program at UVU. I think this will be the only time in my life where I have had 4 months to just chill out and focus on me.
6. The kids
Okay Okay, so yeah...I'm obsessed with my students. HAHA. Remember when I first started and literally couldn't deal with them? I love them with my whole heart now. Seriously their hugs make my heart melt and they just say the best things. I will miss Lily's sass, Ua asking me if he can come to America with me everyday, and Namping running up to hug me everyday. They're the cutest kids around town and I will miss them so much. Also, they've been hella good birth control.
7. Smoothies and Fresh fruit
Smoothies and fresh fruit for under $1 24/7....do I really need to explain this one?
8. My Crew
Alright guys, so I was so nervous to come to Thailand because I was in the smallest ILP group ILP has ever had...but it's been the best. I really love my friends and I have no idea how I'm going to go from sharing a job, room, vacations, bathroom, bus rides, taxi cabs, and experiences with to like being alone all the time. I'm def going to miss dance parties, laughing at literally everything, talking about our moms, and all the smoothie dates with my main ladies. Also who's going to take all my Instagram pictures?
Well folks, I am going to miss WAY MORE than that but if I was to wrote about everything I was going to miss I would be here for days. I just really fell in love with Thailand and my home, Phitsanulok. Who would've thought that 4 months wouldn't feel like enough time. So let's leave things on a bright note and talk about some things I am excited for.
Some things I'm looking forward to
1. Knowing what I am eating
2. Toilet paper being mandatory everywhere
3. Showering without the power going out
4. Hot Wings
5. In n Out
6. Taco Bell
7. FRIENDS FROM HOME
9. Garbage cans being like a thing
11. The English language
12. Not dripping in sweat 24/7
13. Sleeping without cockroaches and lizards crawling on me
